Google takes on Apple’s Contact Poster with new ‘Calling Cards’ feature
Apple introduced the Contact Poster feature in iOS 17 for users who were complaining about their blank incoming call screens. This feature allows users to express themselves by creating a customized poster that appears when they call friends or family.
This fancy feature enables you to personalize the posters displayed on call screens with photos, Memojis, custom colors, and fonts. When you call someone you know, the poster you’ve set up will appear on their screen. This feature requires at least iOS 17.
Google is preparing to respond to Apple’s feature that makes call screens more fun and, to be honest, more creative. According to Android Authority, new clues have surfaced regarding the company’s upcoming Calling Cards feature.
According to the report, Google recently added several new codes to the Contacts app. These additions suggest that the company is actively working on the Calling Cards feature.
These codes also suggest that users will be able to see special fonts and full-screen images on their call screens, just like on iPhones.
Similarly, other codes spotted in Google Play Services suggest that users will be able to create, delete, and update customized call cards. Unless there are any last-minute changes, the new feature is expected to work pretty similarly to Apple’s Contact Poster.
When will Google release the new feature?
Google’s Calling Cards feature is still in development, so it’s nearly impossible to give an exact date. However, with the growing number of clues emerging recently, it’s possible that the company could make a surprise announcement soon.
Additionally, when Google releases the feature to users, it may initially make it available only on Pixel models. Other phone manufacturers may later bring the feature to their own devices.
